San Antonio Metro Health has added five deaths to the total death total of the COVID-19 epidemic. According to officials, the Southeast Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center failed to report to officials that five of their patients have passed due to COVID-19. The nursing home was in the news early for the deaths of three other patients, that were reported by the hospital where the individuals were being treated. Media interviews from family members are what prompted city officials to investigate if there were more deaths than originally reported.

The victims of the unreported deaths were 70 or older. All of then were asymptomatic but did test positive for the virus. Properly dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak is of the utmost importance in quelling this outbreak. Officials refusing to do so puts thousands of people’s lives at risk. Reporting, as well as other safety messures are necicary in stopping the spread of infection as soon as possible.
